It also employs contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance. Unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction are often used, as well. Additionally, contemporary dance sometimes incorporates elements of non-western dance cultures, such as elements from African dance including bent knees, or movements from Japanese contemporary dance.

Gymnastics is a type of sport that includes physical exercises requiring balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, artistry and endurance. The movements involved in gymnastics contribute to the development of the arms, legs, shoulders, back, chest, and abdominal muscle groups. Classes are instructor led, with encouragement of independence so that children are both taught skills and allowed time to perfect skills that they enjoy.
Kindergym is designed to provide boys and girls, ages 2-4, with an introduction to floor gymnastics, tumbling, acrobatics, gross motor development, and movement education through self-exploratory play. Kindergym instructors work to build each child’s self-esteem and independence. Mats, low safe beams, and obstacle courses are utilized throughout the curriculum. The proper timing and use of this program should enhance the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of the children while building their sense of self and others. This program does not have a specific curriculum as the goal is to encourage children to feel safe and accustomed to the equipment, staff and space.
